Third person when running around and First person only in the ship. As a old Wing Commander 1-4 and Privateer player, that's the only viable option and I love it. It's also fascinating to see, that the cockpit designs of different ship classes, are like a 1:1 copy of the Wing Commander Privateer ships. Nostalgic 😊💙.

In order to play in third person you will need to bring up the quick menu with X (PC) / Down D-Pad (Xbox and PS4). From here scroll over to the left until you hit Utilities and then select this
Back when they introduced 3rd person I was skeptic, I used it just to see how it looked But now I never toggle out of it. There's something really awesome to see "you" into the game and I feel like it's more immersive for the experience. In the dev update they said that they're adding customizable hotkeys, so at least you can set 3rd person toggle to a hotkey (presumably, if HG ships a working feature) then you can easily switch from 1st to 3rd person with a button press. It'll be a good method for now, if/until they add a HUD in 3rd person. dlpbSkR.
